Traveling in winter

The harsh winter temperatures can affect the condition of the road surface, with possible ice and snow formations. To deal with these conditions safely, it is important to pay particular attention to driving and keep an eye on traffic and weather forecasts.

From November 15 to April 15, it is mandatory to travel with winter tires fitted or snow chains on board. This requirement is valid even in the absence of snow or ice. Failure to comply may result in a fine of €80 to €318.

Before you travel, check the traffic forecast and up-to-date weather conditions, especially during holidays and high-traffic weekends.
