Winter road service

During winter, the A22 is hit by low temperatures and heavy snowfalls. The company set up winter procedures to manage the tasks of the different entities (CAU, COA, CSA, and external partners) which collaborate to guarantee adequate safety standards. Autostrada del Brennero uses the weather units, road sensors and thermal mapping to monitor road surface conditions: it prevents snow from sticking or ice from forming, and plans snowploughing activities in advance. By doing so it optimises the use of gritting salt, reduces environmental pollution and the deterioration of the motorway infrastructures. The emergency operations are regulated by a joint protocol shared with the Road Police, Fire bridge, and emergency services.
