Impaired use of the Infrastructure
The Transport Regulation Authority (Autorità di Regolazione dei Trasporti – ART) has issued Resolution No.211/2025 which introduces, effective from 1 June 2026, the right to a motorway toll refund in the event of disruptions caused by non-emergency roadworks and in the event of traffic standstills due to other causes (e.g. accidents, adverse weather events) on sections travelled entirely along routes managed by the same concessionaire.
The refund amount is calculated automatically in accordance with Resolution No. 211/2025 of the ART. Refunds are not issued where the calculated amount is less than 10 cents.
Any amounts of at least 10 cents will be accumulated for each user in an electronic wallet, and the refund will be paid by Autostrada del Brennero via bank transfer once a total amount of at least €1 has been reached.
IN CASE OF ROADWORKS
Where roadworks are present on a section travelled entirely on the A22, the user is entitled to a refund under the following conditions:
sections under 30 km: the right to a refund is independent of the length of the delay;
sections between 30 km and 50 km: a refund applies following a delay of at least 10 minutes;
sections over 50 km: a refund applies following a delay of at least 15 minutes.
Emergency roadworks (e.g. following an accident), mobile roadworks and extraordinary weather events are excluded.
IN CASE OF TRAFFIC STANDSTILLS
The refund is calculated on the toll for the section travelled entirely on the A22, according to the following thresholds:
standstill lasting between 60 and 119 minutes: refund of 50%;
standstill lasting between 120 and 179 minutes: refund of 75%;
standstill lasting more than 180 minutes: full refund (100%).
