Motorway and Regions

The A22 is much more than just infrastructure: it connects regions, economies and people, linking Northern Europe with the Mediterranean. Its management, which reflects the character of the regions it passes through, embodies a constant commitment to balancing economic development, safety, innovation and environmental protection via concrete measures implemented along the entire route. The motorway blends into the places it passes through, helping to enhance their identity and landscapes while promoting cultural and social initiatives.

Autostrada del Brennero grows alongside the regions it passes through by promoting increasingly sustainable, low-emission transport, highlighting local characteristics and contributing to the development of the communities along the motorway route.

Artworks

Right from the design stages of the A22, Autostrada del Brennero has paid close attention to the landscape and to the areas it passes through, mindful of the impact of a major infrastructure project.

To mitigate the motorway’s visual and environmental impact, the company has adopted design solutions and materials that blend into the surroundings, complementing this approach with the creation of artworks at motorway service stations.

Today, eight A22 motorway stations are home to permanent art installations that transform motorway spaces into places that reflect local identity and foster dialogue with the surrounding area: from Chiusa, with Peter Senoner’s ‘Terra vergine Galathica’, to Trento Sud, with Stefano Cagol’s ‘Tridentum’, and on to Rovereto Nord, with Giuliano Orsingher’s ‘Visioni in transito’.

Continuing southwards, one encounters works by Barbara Tamburini and Enrico Ferrari at Rovereto Sud, ‘Iconema’ at Affi, ‘Slancio Vitale’ at Verona Nord, ‘Sogno di un bambino’ at Nogarole Rocca and ‘Turbine’ at Mantova Nord, all of which illustrate the connection between infrastructure, landscape and community.
