Construction
Following the approval of the plans and agreements with ANAS, work began on the first sections of the motorway in May 1964. The works proceeded in successive sections, covering areas that were complex in terms of topography and infrastructure.
On 21 December 1968, the first 50 kilometres between Bolzano and Trento opened to traffic, marking a decisive milestone for transport along the Brenner corridor. Construction continued in the following years until 11 April 1974, when the final section between Chiusa and Bolzano Sud was completed, making the entire A22 motorway passable without interruption from Modena to the Brenner Pass.
Once the construction phase was complete, the company embarked on a process of management consolidation aimed at improving services, safety and operational efficiency. This process led to the first operating profits being recorded in 1984, marking the start of a new phase of development and modernisation.
