Accident incident rate

For the last 10 years the accident incident rate (AIR) in the Brenner Autobahn has steadily diminished. In 2014 it was equal to 21.45 points, compared to 33.04 in 2005 (-35.1%) and to 45.35 in 2000 (-52.7%).
Even the number of accidents occurring last year dropped dramatically: in 2014 there were 958 accidents, compared to 1484 accidents occurring ten years ago (526 less) and 1779 occurring fifteen years ago (821 less).
In the light of these data, the Brenner Autobahn reports that 2014 ended - as compared to 2013 - with an overall increase in traffic by 1.48%, determined by an increase in the traffic of light vehicles (+1.13%), and heavy vehicles (+ 2.42%) alike.
