Electric

The investment plan devised to finance the Autostrada del Brennero project to turn the A22 in the first European Green Corridor also focuses on boosting electric charging stations. While polluting emissions are caused by the vehicles driving on the motorway, Autobrennero wants to contribute to the decarbonisation of transport which is occurring around the world. Installing a widespread network of charging stations on the motorway will drive e-mobility and contribute to the goal the European Union has set to slash net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030.

Electric charging points for heavy goods vehicles

In May 2025, Autostrada del Brennero opened the first charging station for electric heavy goods vehicles at the Firmian car park in Bolzano Sud. It comprises two charging points, serving three bays, with three CCS2 connectors rated up to 600 kW and one 1 MW MCS connector, manufactured by Alpitronic. This solution is among the first of its kind in Europe and a first for Italy. Ultra-fast charging reduces stopping times, enabling a vehicle with a 500 kWh battery to be charged in around 30 minutes, offering a potential range of up to 500 km.

Access is currently regulated via a card issued by Autostrada del Brennero

In 2026, a second charging point for heavy goods vehicles was also opened at the Sadobre Truck Park, featuring a 180 kW charging point and two available bays. Access to the Truck Park is free for the first hour.
