The Company guarantees high standards starting right from the design and development phase of the works thanks to a highly qualified in-house technical team that monitors the infrastructure’s evolution over time. This is complemented by an advanced maintenance model that, based on continuous monitoring via sensors, drones and digital platforms, enables constant monitoring of the condition of bridges, viaducts and major structures and allows any critical issues to be identified promptly. Operational management is reinforced by a comprehensive regional presence organised through the Motorway Safety Centres that ensure direct knowledge of the network and effective planning of interventions.

Motorway Safety Centres (CSA)

The CSAs are facilities housing technicians, labourers and traffic auxiliaries, along with their respective emergency vehicles. There are six CSAs, strategically located every 50 kilometres, to enable staff to constantly monitor and inspect the condition of the infrastructure and to carry out any necessary maintenance work promptly.

Staff are also responsible for erecting roadworks signage and carrying out special services, such as snow clearance during the winter season. The CSAs are equipped with silos and warehouses for the storage and preservation of de-icing salt, vehicles for spreading de-icing agents, snow ploughs and snow blowers. In particular,

Traffic Auxiliaries provide assistance and rescue services to motorway users 24/7, in collaboration with the Road Police and under the coordination of the CAU.

In the event of long queues or traffic congestion, the Company has also entered into specific agreements with external emergency services such as Croce Bianca, the Volunteer Fire Brigade and the Red Cross.

Drones

To further enhance infrastructure monitoring, the Company also uses a fleet of drones capable of inspecting bridges, viaducts and other structures without interfering with traffic flow. This technology also enables topographical surveys, slope stability assessments and the creation of 2D and 3D digital models, feeding an advanced information system with virtual maps of the entire motorway network.
