Infrastructure

The A22 is one of the main transport routes between the Po Valley and Central Europe. The motorway forms part of the A1 motorway network and extends to the national border, connecting Modena to the Brenner Pass and continuing on into Austria andGermany. The motorway is 314 kilometres long and crosses through four Italian regions: Emilia-Romagna, Lombardy, Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige/South Tyrol, playing a strategic role in the movement of people and goods along the north-south European corridor.

Motorway toll stations

There are 24 motorway toll stations along the A22. The toll is calculated based on the entry and exit points of the journey made. Over the years, the stations have been continuously modernised and upgraded technologically. Today, they are all equipped with contactless toll payment systems and lanes fitted with equipment for the European Electronic Toll Service. These innovations help to reduce waiting times and improve traffic flow, while enhancing the overall efficiency of the
service.
